The Freestyle Percussion Foundation

Discipline, Confidence, Commitment, Excellence

The Freestyle Percussion Foundation is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, founded by Christopher P. A. Seltzer in 2004.  We are a music school which teaches students to not only be the best musician, artist, or dancer they can be; but to be the best person they can be through discipline, confidence, commitment, and excellence.

Our hope is to encourage a spirit of pride and excellence in Birmingham and surrounding cities through the gift of music and arts. We desire to develop our students into individuals who will positively impact our communities through music and arts.

Music study has been linked to higher academic performance, more likelihood to reach higher levels of academia, declines in substance use, reduced disciplinary problems and even reductions in racism (Music, 2009).

The College Entrance Examination Board found that students involved in school music programs scored 107 points higher on the SAT’s than students with no participation.
